Providence, RI International Day To End Violence Against Sex Workers

Join Us Saturday December 17, 2016 at 1pm, for International Day To End Violence Against Sex Workers. The Rhode Island chapter of Coyote joins sex workers, allies and advocates from around the world in recognizing December 17, the International Day to End Violence against Sex Workers. As we approach this day, we come together to remember those lost this year and renew our commitment to the on-going struggle for empowerment, visibility, and rights for all sex workers. We also renew our commitment to solidarity. The majority of violence against sex workers is not just violence against sex works—it’s also violence against transgender women, against women of color, against drug users, against immigrants. We cannot end the marginalization and victimization of all sex workers without also fighting trans-phobia, racism, stigma and criminalization of drug use, and xenophobia. This is a free event, open to the public.

[To End Economic Violence Against Sex Workers]

Event Date and Hours: de 9:00 am -3:00 pm, November 25
Link to Website with Event Information:

Since the implementation of new laws against sex work in 2014 sex workers have been living and working under a criminalized regime that has resulted in arrests, deportations, violence and increased insecurity. Our safety and security continues to be at risk. We honour this December 17th in solidarity with sex workers across the world to highlight the continued police repression, profiling, the violence of arrest, the gentrification of our neighbourhoods that push us into isolation, and the desperate need to end criminalization of sex workers, clients and the people we work with. We have hopes that with a new government in place that claims to respect human rights, we will achieve a decriminalized and safe industry that prioritizes sex workers’ safety. Please join us and in protest of the continued and systemic violence of sex work laws and discrimination. Together we are stronger.

Event Location: Via della Resistenza 32/34, Ferrara, Italia
Event Date: 16 dicembre, 19:30-23:00
Link to Website with Event Information:

Event Date: Friday, December 17 at 12:00PM

Belgrade, Serbia – 17.December
Event Location: Brace Krsmanovica 4, Belgrade, Serbia
Event Date: Dec 17 – 12.00-14.00
Every year, on December 17, commemorates the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against sex workers. This is the day when we remember sex workers who were killed at the workplace but also those who were victims of predators, those whose life was in danger. This is the day you sympathize with their families and friends. Also the day when we are identifing ourselves with them and think about it, what if we are the next one? What can happeed to us in the workplace and who protects us? Does anyone else sympathize with us or we are condemn by the most of the people? Why are murderers and thugs of the sex workers in advance abolish? Why is the farmer, engineer, pilot, operator, worker, and we not ..? Because of these issues and the importance of the sacrifices we are marking this day to draw attention to the unenviable position of a man, unworthy position of workers.
